Baseball Game Preview: Rutherford Rams vs. Blountstown Tigers

The Rutherford Rams will face off against the Blountstown Tigers at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Rutherford comes in still looking for their first win of the season.

Things were looking good for Rutherford after they put the first points on the board on Friday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They fell just short of Fort Walton Beach by a score of 5-4.

Javier Gierbolini was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring two runs and stealing four bases. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in stolen bases. Dailer Vargas was another key player, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 1-for-3.

Meanwhile, Blountstown came up short against Franklin County on Thursday and fell 9-5. The Tigers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Blountstown saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Cole Watson, who scored a run and stole two bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Watson is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: he's stolen at least one every time he's taken the field this season. Another was Isaac Roberts, who scored a run and stole a base.

Rutherford's defeat dropped their record down to 0-4. As for Blountstown, their loss dropped their record down to 1-4.

The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Rutherford has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.5 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Blountstown struggles in that department as they've been averaging 5.6 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
