Baseball Recap: West Wendover Beats Incline for Their Third Straight Victory

West Wendover extended their winning streak to three on Saturday, bumping their season record up to 19-7 in the process. Everything went their way against the Incline Highlanders as they made off with an 11-1 victory. The Wolverines might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 12 games by six runs or more this season.

Alonzo Carrillo was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out six batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits (and only one walk). He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Markus Gonzalez and Adrian Perez did most of the damage at the plate: Gonzalez went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double, while Perez went 2-for-3 with two runs and two RBI. Those two runs gave Gonzalez a new career-high. Aidien Rodriguez was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.

West Wendover always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .529. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .529 or higher in three consecutive contests.

As for Incline, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-15. That's two games in a row now that they have lost by exactly ten runs.

On Incline's side, Tate Gitchell made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 2-for-2 with one run and one double.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: West Wendover beat the Highlanders by a score of 10-7 later that day.
