Recap: Osmond/Randolph Hawks vs. Plainview Pirates

The Osmond/Randolph Hawks struggled with offensive rebounds on Thursday (the Plainview Pirates had ten more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Osmond/Randolph received a tough blow as they fell 43-25 to Plainview. While losing is never fun, Osmond/Randolph can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 241st, while Plainview is ranked 92nd).

When it comes to explaining why Osmond/Randolph lost, one person who can't be blamed is Keli Aschoff. Despite the final result, she scored ten points along with eight rebounds and seven steals. That's the first time this season that Aschoff pulled down eight or more rebounds. Erin Wagner was another key contributor, scoring seven points.

It was another big night for Abbie Kromarek, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and ten rebounds for Plainview. That makes it six consecutive games in which Kromarek has scored at least a third of Plainview's points. Another player making a difference was Madelynn Dougherty, who scored ten points along with six rebounds and three steals.

This is the second loss in a row for Osmond/Randolph and nudges their season record down to 3-13. As for Plainview, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 12-4.

Osmond/Randolph will face off against Homer at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday. Hopefully Homer focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 24 last Tuesday. As for Plainview, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Wausa at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday. Wausa is coming into the matchup on a four-game losing streak.
