Softball Recap: Fordson Tractors vs. Wayne Memorial Zebras

Fordson extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 21 on Wednesday, dropping their season record down to 0-16 in the process. They lost 23-9 to the Wayne Memorial Zebras. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Zebras this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 19-0 on Wednesday.

As for Wayne Memorial, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 3-11. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

For Wayne Memorial's part, Char'Le Grant made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out six batters over two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Grant has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one hit in four consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with three runs and one stolen base.

In other batting news, Wayne Memorial let Shamira Peguies and London Humphrey run wild. Peguies went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI, while Humphrey got on base in three of her four plate appearances with five stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. Those five stolen bases gave Humphrey a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Patricia Humphrey, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with four stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.
