Baseball Recap: Lakeland Takes a Loss

Lakeland extended their losing streak to four on Tuesday, dropping their season record down to 5-16 in the process. They came up short against the Post Falls Trojans, falling 11-1. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Hawks of the 8-0 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2024.

Lakeland saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Griffin Tamangi, who went 1-for-2 with one run.

As for Post Falls, their record now sits at 7-10-1. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for they considering their two-run performance the match before.

On Post Falls' side, Caleb Jimerson was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Jimerson also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Post Falls is 2-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 5-9-1 otherwise. Jimerson was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

In other batting news, Post Falls let Mike O'Connor and Marshall Tomlinson run wild. O'Connor got on base in all three of his plate appearances with two RBI and one run, while Tomlinson got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one double and one RBI. Kyler Cooley was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs and one RBI.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Post Falls beat Lakeland by a score of 9-8 later that day.
