Football Recap: Piper Gets the Win + How To Watch

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Coconut Creek, Piper was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They came out on top against the South Plantation Paladins by a score of 31-21. The Bengals haven't had any issues with the Paladins recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive victory against them.

Jahnard Young was the offensive standout of the match as he rushed for 145 yards while picking up 7.3 yards per carry.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Piper was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 237 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since the start of last season.

Another reason for the win was Piper's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for five sacks. The heavy lifting was done by Jaytoin Thomas and Khalil Jefferson, who racked up four sacks between them. Thomas is also crushing it when it comes to total tackles: he's made at least seven every time he's taken the field this season. Piper got some further help from Luchung Manyou: he picked up a sack, made six total tackles (3.0 for loss), and defended one pass.

When it comes to explaining why South Plantation lost, don't look at Kamary Cooper. Despite the final result, he rushed for 141 yards and one TD on only ten carries, and also picked up 90 receiving yards and a pair of scores. Cooper's longest rush was for an incredible 90 yards. Another player making a difference was Nixon Kalish, who threw for 200 yards and a pair of touchdowns.

Piper's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-2. As for South Plantation, their defeat was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-1.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Piper will square off against Plantation at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for South Plantation, they will face off against Nova at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The contest will give the Paladins their first taste of in-conference action this season.
