Baseball Recap: Preston Beats Konawa for Their Fifth Straight Win

Preston waltzed into their match on Thursday with four straight wins... but they left with five. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Konawa Tigers a 7-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for the Pirates, who have now won 11 contests by seven runs or more so far this season.

Noah Wilson made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out seven over 4.1 innings pitched. Those seven strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Hunter McElhannon, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs. Those two runs gave him a new career-high. Bradley Winford was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

Preston's win was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 16-4. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Konawa, their loss dropped their record down to 19-7.
