Softball Recap: Strasburg Indians vs. The Academy Wildcats
It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Strasburg had no problem doing just that on Friday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past The Academy Wildcats 8-7. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Indians also won the last time the pair played back in September.
Rachel Rupple was incredible, going 2-for-4 with a home run, two runs, and two RBI. What's more, she also racked up two hits, the most she's had since back in September. Another player making a difference was Addi Kent, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-3.
Strasburg didn't let batters stay on the plate for long and finished the game with six strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as The Academy only tossed two.
Strasburg is on a roll lately: they've won 16 of their last 17 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 22-5 record this season. As for The Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 18-9.
