Basketball Recap: Marais des Cygnes Valley Comes Up Short

Marais des Cygnes Valley lost against Waverly back in January of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Marais des Cygnes Valley Trojans received a blow as they fell 68-51 to the Waverly Bulldogs.

Despite the defeat, Marais des Cygnes Valley saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Owen Giffin went 7 of 16 on his way to 21 points and five boards. Dalton Lingenfelter was another key player, putting up 11 points and five rebounds.

Marais des Cygnes Valley has traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-5 record this season. As for Waverly, their win ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 1-5.

Marais des Cygnes Valley didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, an 89-31 loss against Olpe on the 17th. Waverly has also already played their next contest, a 50-45 victory against Northern Heights on the 15th.
