Baseball Recap: Staunton Wins Going Away Against Greenfield/Northwestern

Staunton won the last time they faced Greenfield/Northwestern and things went their way on Wednesday too. The Bulldogs blew past the Tigers 9-2. Considering the Bulldogs have won nine games by more than six runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

The team relied heavily on Carter Legendre, who went 2-for-5 with three RBI and one double. Staunton is 2-0-1 when Legendre posts three or more RBI, but 11-12 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Ethan Sharp, who earned two RBI and two runs.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Staunton kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. They are undefeated (7-0) when they post 11 or more hits.

Staunton now has a winning record of 13-12-1. As for Greenfield/Northwestern, they now have a losing record of 12-13.

Looking ahead, Staunton is taking a road trip to challenge Carlinville at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Greenfield/Northwestern, they will host Calhoun at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Tigers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Warriors have averaged an impressive 6.9 runs per game this season.
