Softball Recap: Elwood Sets Scoring Season-High Against Liberty Christian

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Madison-Grant, Elwood was happy to have turned things around on Friday. Everything went their way against the Liberty Christian Lions as they made off with a 25-5 victory. The Panthers' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Sandy Jordan made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out nine over 4.2 innings pitched. Jordan was also big at the plate, going 4-for-5 with one triple and one RBI. That RBI was her first of the season.

In other batting news, Elwood got a massive performance out of Taylor Hawks, who went a perfect 5-for-5 with one home run, four runs, and four RBI. Those four RBI gave Hawks a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Kelsey Armes, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI.

Elwood always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .756. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Liberty Christian only posted an OBP of .286.

Elwood moved to 2-3 with that win, which also ended their three-game losing streak. As for Liberty Christian, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-5.

Elwood didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, an 18-2 victory against Sheridan on the 22nd. As for Liberty Christian, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next match, an 11-1 loss against Horizon Christian on the 22nd.
