Softball Recap: Edwards County Continues Road Dominance on Monday

It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Edwards County ultimately got the result they hoped for on Monday. They had just enough and edged out the Robinson Maroons 8-6. That's two games straight that the Lions have won by exactly two runs.

Allison Groff spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and three unearned) runs on nine hits.

At the plate, Grace Bishop was incredible, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Kyndal Richards also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

Edwards County pushed their record up to 14-2 with the victory, which was their eighth straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.9 runs over those games. As for Robinson, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 11-10 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Edwards County will square off against Eldorado at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Robinson, they will face off against Charleston at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Maroons' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Trojans have averaged an impressive 7.2 runs per game this season.
