Basketball Recap: Superior's Luck Changes for the Better on Saturday

Superior came into Saturday's match having lost 11 straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 20-18 victory over the BASIS Flagstaff Yetis on Saturday.

Superior was led to victory by Lilianna Fritz and Faith Denogean. Fritz posted seven points along with nine rebounds and eight steals, while Denogean scored no points in addition to 11 boards, four steals, and three blocks. Fritz has been hot for a while, having posted two or more steals the last 14 times she's played.

Superior smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've posted since the start of last season.

BASIS Flagstaff lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Jasmine Hall, who put up three points and five steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Maleea Moebes, who earned four points and six rebounds.

Superior's win ended a seven-game drought at home and bumped them up to 3-15. As for BASIS Flagstaff, their loss was their 12th straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-16.

As of now, neither Superior nor BASIS Flagstaff have any future games scheduled.
