Basketball Recap: First Flight Sets Scoring Season-High Against Manteo

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask First Flight). They were the clear victors by an 83-58 margin over the Manteo Redskins on Friday. The victory continues a trend for the Nighthawks in their matchups with the Redskins: they've now won six in a row.

First Flight's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Lex Jackson, who posted 24 points. Those 24 points gave Jackson a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Judah Carlyle, who earned 24 points.

Manteo lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Zay Banks, who put up 18 points and five boards. He has been hot recently, having posted 18 or more points the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was Kai McGilberry, who had 18 points.

First Flight now has a winning record of 4-3. As for Manteo, the defeat was their first on the road , dropping their record down to 4-2.

Coming up, First Flight will be home for the holidays to greet Camden County at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Nighthawks will be up against the Bruins' rather soft defense (which has allowed 62.43 points per game), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. Manteo will be paying especially close attention to First Flight's contest: after First Flight faces off against Camden County, they'll take on Manteo again at 8:00 p.m. on Thursday.
