Basketball Game Preview: Porter Spartans vs. Crosby Cougars

Porter hasn't had much luck against Crosby recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Porter Spartans will challenge the Crosby Cougars at 7:00 p.m.

Last Friday, Porter was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 48-42 to Pasadena. The Spartans have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, Crosby was able to grind out a solid victory over Dayton on Friday, taking the game 57-46. The Cougars pushed the score to 50-29 by the end of the third, a deficit the Broncos cut but never quite recovered from.

Crosby's win came from a few key players Porter will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was TYLER EADEN, who almost dropped a double-double on 15 points and nine boards. What's more, he also racked up two steals, the most he's had since back in November of 2024. Another player making a difference was PHILLIP JACKSON, who went 8 of 12 en route to 19 points.

Crosby's win was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-11. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.7 points per game. As for Porter, their loss dropped their record down to 10-16.

Porter and Crosby were neck-and-neck in their previous matchup back in January of 2018, but Porter came up empty-handed after a 35-34 defeat. Can Porter avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
