There's no place like home for Fort Meade, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Tuesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 5-3 victory over the Frostproof Bulldogs on Wednesday. That's more bragging rights for the Miners, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

DeMarion Abrams and Owen Harrell made a splash no matter where they played. Throwing, Abrams struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Harrell didn't allow a single earned run while striking out seven over four innings pitched. Abrams has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits in six consecutive appearances. At the plate, Abrams scored a run while going 1-for-3, while Harrell scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Noe Jaramillo, who went 1-for-3 with one home run. That home run was his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Andrew Brooks, who went 1-for-2 with one double and one RBI.

Fort Meade hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Frostproof struck out 13 times.

Fort Meade pushed their record up to 14-7 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.7 runs over those games. As for Frostproof, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 8-12.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Fort Meade will head out to take on Mulberry at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Panthers will roll in looking for their seventh straight win, something the Miners surely won't give up without a fight. As for Frostproof, they are taking a road trip to challenge Avon Park at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Red Devils' pitching crew has only allowed 3.6 runs per game this season, so the Bulldogs' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
