Baseball Game Preview: Whiteford Bobcats vs. Washtenaw Christian Academy Wildcats

The Whiteford Bobcats will face off against the Washtenaw Christian Academy Wildcats at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Whiteford is coming into the contest hot, having won their last nine games.

On Saturday, Whiteford beat Dundee 6-2.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Washtenaw Christian Academy). They never let Loyola get on the board and left with a 16-0 win on Friday. The Wildcats not only won on Friday, but they posted their biggest win since April 16, 2024 (when they won 32-2).

Simon Valaskiva-Howard made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with three runs. Those runs were his first of the season.

In other batting news, Tate Couch was a standout: he got on base in all three of his plate appearances with three RBI and two runs. Benedict Deemer was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs and two RBI.

Washtenaw Christian Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .645. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Whiteford's victory was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-4. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.7 runs over those games. As for Washtenaw Christian Academy, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-5.
