Baseball Game Preview: Manteca Buffaloes vs. Franklin Yellowjackets

The Manteca Buffaloes will head out on the road to take on the Franklin Yellowjackets at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Manteca's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Wednesday. They came out on top against Los Banos by a score of 4-0. The win continues a trend for the Buffaloes in their matchups with the Tigers: they've now won five in a row.

Jeremy Cross looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. What's more, he also racked up five strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March of 2024.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Preston Smith, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 2-for-2. Another player making a difference was Edward Anthony, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 2-for-3.

Meanwhile, Franklin gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Wednesday. They blew past Summerville 10-4.

Everything went Manteca's way against Franklin when the teams last played back in March of 2016, as Manteca made off with an 11-1 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Manteca since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
