Meridian scored a stunning upset when it knocked off Petal, 45-21. At the time, the Panthers were ranked second in the state, while the Wildcats were 28th.

Meridian was able to crack the Top 25 in the state rankings this week after topping Petal. Larry Weems' team came in at 20 in the state poll after placing at number 28 last week.

Tyus Raine was a passing and rushing force as Marcus Boyles' team lost to the Wildcats.

CAMERON BOLTON put up the best numbers in passing as Provine topped Jim Hill. He finished with 2 completions for 20 yards and 1 touchdown.

Leading 6A Region 3 in both passing and receiving yards, Oak Grove's Kirk McCarty and Jordan Mitchell have proven to be a lethal combination. 6-0 quarterback McCarty has thrown for 2,341 yards this season, while Mitchell has 33 catches for 628 yards. The Panthers' Raine leads the league in rushing yards with 1,213.

The Rams are currently in seventh, while the Warriors are in first.

Provine took down the Tigers 32-0 last week, the largest margin of any game. DEMARQUE BROWN ran for 157 yards and caught 1 pass for 16 yards during the win.
