Basketball Game Preview: Red Rock Scorpions vs. Camp Verde Cowboys

The Red Rock Scorpions will face off against the Camp Verde Cowboys at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Camp Verde took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Red Rock, who comes in off a win.

Having struggled with 13 losses in a row dating back to last season, Red Rock turned things around against Madison Highland Prep on Friday. They took their match with ease, bagging a 77-16 win over the Heat. The Scorpions' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Red Rock's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Karina Rodriguez, who almost dropped a double-double on 15 points and nine rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Maya Esquer-Morales, who posted 17 points along with six boards and three steals.

Meanwhile, Camp Verde came up short against Glendale Prep Academy on Monday, falling 59-37. The Cowboys have struggled against the Griffins recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost matchup.

Camp Verde's defeat dropped their record down to 7-11. As for Red Rock, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-9.

Everything came up roses for Red Rock against Camp Verde when the teams last played back in December of 2021, as the squad secured a 56-24 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Red Rock since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
