Soccer Game Preview: Beachside vs. Ponte Vedra

The Beachside Barracudas will square off against the Ponte Vedra Sharks at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Beachside is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Monday. Their defense stepped up to hand St. Augustine a 4-0 shutout. The high-scoring effort was just what the Barracudas needed considering they were shutout in their previous game.

Meanwhile, after failing to score in their last matchup, Ponte Vedra made sure to put some goals up on the board against Englewood on Monday. They put the hurt on the Rams with a sharp 10-0 win. Given the Sharks' advantage in MaxPreps' Florida soccer rankings (they are ranked eighth, while the Rams are ranked 469th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Ponte Vedra's victory bumped their record up to 11-3-2. As for Beachside, their win bumped their record up to 9-5-2.

Beachside suffered a grim 3-0 defeat to Ponte Vedra when the teams last played back in November of 2023. Can Beachside avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
