Softball Game Preview: Clearwater Valley Rams vs. Non Varsity Opponent

Clearwater Valley is a perfect 3-0 against Non Varsity Opponent since April of 2024 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. The Rams will head out on the road to challenge Non Varsity Opponent at 3:00 p.m. The two teams are strolling into their matchups after big wins in their previous games.

Last Thursday, Clearwater Valley got the win against Lewis County co-op [Highland/Nezperce] by a conclusive 14-3. Considering the Rams have won three games by more than six runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Gracie Schuster made a splash no matter where she played. She struck out six batters over five innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits (and not a single walk). Those six strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-4.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jesse Rice, who scored two runs and stole three bases while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. Autum Martinez was another key player, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 1-for-3.

Meanwhile, Non Varsity Opponent made easy work of Foxfire on Sunday and carried off a 15-4 victory.

Clearwater Valley now has a winning record of 4-3. As for Non Varsity Opponent, they pushed their record up to 56-93-6 with the win, which was their sixth straight on the road.

Clearwater Valley was able to grind out a solid victory over Non Varsity Opponent in their previous meeting back in March, winning 9-5. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Rams since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
