Baseball Preview: Frontier Regional Red Hawks vs. Taconic Thunder

The Frontier Regional Red Hawks will venture away from home to challenge the Taconic Thunder at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Frontier Regional's hitters haven't had much luck over their past three games, but Saturday's contest will give them a chance to turn things around.

On Friday, Frontier Regional needed a bit of extra time to put away East Longmeadow. They had just enough and edged out the Spartans 2-1.

Carter Miller tossed a big game, tossing 8.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (five).

On the hitting side, Frontier Regional saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ben Caron, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one double. Another was Porter Hall, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one double.

He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out seven over four innings pitched. Christopher was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with three runs.

In other batting news, Ed Ferris was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. He is becoming a predictor of Taconic's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 4-1 (and 6-7 when he doesn't). Kyle McGrath was another key player, going 1-for-3 with three RBI and one run.

Frontier Regional's record now sits at 11-8. As for Taconic, their record is now 10-8.
