Softball Recap: North Schuylkill Falls Short of Valley View in the Playoffs

North Schuylkill and Valley View squared off in some playoff action on Thursday, but North Schuylkill had to settle for second. They took a 6-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Cougars. The Spartans were red-hot at the plate heading into the match (they scored no less than ten runs in the three games prior), but the Cougars' pitcher proved too tough.

Brigid Flynn spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and three unearned) runs on nine hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances.

At the plate, North Schuylkill saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Olivia Jones, who went 2-for-3 with one RBI.

North Schuylkill moved to 15-3 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak. As for Valley View, the victory (which was their 11th in a row) raised their record to 22-2-1.

As of now, neither North Schuylkill nor the Cougars have any future games scheduled.
