Baseball Recap: Cactus Shadows' Loss Ends 13-Game Winning Streak at Home

Cactus Shadows dropped their record down to 22-4-1 on Saturday, which also ended the team's 13-game streak of wins at home. They fell 13-10 to the Mesquite Wildcats. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for the Falcons, who until this game were averaging 2.78 runs allowed.

Jack Scully was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-5 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Dominic Ziccarelli, who went 1-for-5 with one home run and three RBI.

As for Mesquite, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 21-8 record this season. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for they considering their two-run performance the contest before.

On Mesquite's side, Aidan Stenberg looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits. Stenberg has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Noah Forney was a standout: he went 2-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Andres Lozano, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Cactus Shadows does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Mesquite, they will take on Ironwood Ridge at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The Nighthawks will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something the Wildcats surely won't give up without a fight.
