Recap: Darien Blue Wave vs. New Canaan Rams
On Thursday, the Darien Blue Wave faced the New Canaan Rams in a battle between two of the state's top teams. The match between the two teams wasn't particularly close, with Darien falling 31-17. They were down 28-3 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.
Alex Russey looked great while leading his team to the win, rushing for 111 yards and a touchdown on only five carries. Russey's longest rush was for an incredible 81 yards. Alex Benevento was in the mix too, providing New Canaan with three touchdowns.
Darien's defeat dropped their record down to 7-3. As for New Canaan, the victory was the ninth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 9-1.
Darien is on the road again on Tuesday and play against Naugatuck at 6:30 p.m. on November 28th. Naugatuck will be looking to keep their six-game home win streak alive. New Canaan will take on Killingly at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Killingly will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.
