Softball Game Preview: Irving Tigers vs. Ryan Raiders

The Irving Tigers will head out on the road to challenge the Ryan Raiders at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.

Irving came into their game on Tuesday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They lost 7-0 to Grapevine. The loss continues a trend for the Tigers in their meetings with the Mustangs: they've now lost three in a row.

Meanwhile, Ryan was not the first on the board on Wednesday, but they got there more often. They came out on top against Denton by a score of 6-1. The win continues a trend for the Raiders in their matchups with the Broncos: they've now won five in a row.

Olivia Buettner made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 14 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in February. She was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run and two runs.

In other batting news, Jamyla Anderson was excellent, going 2-for-3 with three RBI and one triple. Those RBI marked the first that she brought in this season. Kendall Whitehill was another key player, scoring two runs while going 1-for-3.

Ryan's record now sits at 12-5. As for Irving, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-12-1.
