Basketball Recap: Groves Victorious

Groves hadn't done well against Beach recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Groves Rebels snuck past the Beach Bulldogs with a 40-36 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Rebels.

It was another big night for Aniyah Wright, who posted 18 points. Another player making a difference was Makialah Byrd, who scored nine points.

Despite the loss, Beach saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Mariah Reid had 21 points. Reid's evening made it 14 games in a row in which she has scored at least 17 points.

The victory got Groves back to even at 10-10. As for Beach, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 9-14.

Groves wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 40-31 win against Windsor Forest on the 7th. As for Beach, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 20-0 victory against Johnson on the 7th.
