Preview: James Kenan Tigers vs. East Duplin Panthers
The James Kenan Tigers will head out on the road to square off against the East Duplin Panthers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. James Kenan will be strutting in after a win while East Duplin will be coming in after a loss.
Even though Wallace-Rose Hill scored an imposing 64 points on Tuesday, James Kenan still came out on top. James Kenan took their matchup against Wallace-Rose Hill 75-64. The win was just what James Kenan needed coming off of a 85-61 defeat in their prior match.
East Duplin suffered their biggest loss yet this season on Tuesday. They were beaten by Southwest Onslow 80-46. While losing is never fun, East Duplin can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 605th, while Southwest Onslow is ranked 206th).
Calvin Harper put forth a good effort for the losing side as he scored 22 points. He has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last three times he's played. Jordan Hall was another key contributor, scoring six points along with five rebounds and two steals.
James Kenan has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 10-4 record this season. As for East Duplin, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-13.
Everything came up roses for James Kenan against East Duplin when the teams last played on January 11th as the squad secured a 87-53 victory. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Harper, who scored 22 points along with eight rebounds.
