Preview: Troy Trojans vs. Mansfield Tigers
Troy has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will challenge the Mansfield Tigers at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
Last Wednesday, Troy took their matchup at home with ease, bagging a 74-32 win over Sayre.
Mansfield has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three contests by 27 points or more this season. They claimed a resounding 76-49 win over Williamson at home. With Mansfield ahead 54-25 at the half, the contest was all but over already.
Mansfield's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Cooper Shaw led the charge by scoring 13 points along with six rebounds and three steals. Those three steals set a new season-high mark for him. Another player making a difference was Karson Dominick, who scored 20 points along with six rebounds.
Troy's win bumped their record up to 3-0. As for Mansfield, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 4-1.
Troy couldn't quite finish off Mansfield in their previous matchup back in December of 2022 and fell 43-40. Can Troy avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
