Baseball Recap: Thomasville Triumphs

Thomasville won the last time they faced Salisbury and things went their way on Monday too. The Bulldogs came out on top in a nail-biter against the Hornets, sneaking past 6-5. That's two games straight that the Bulldogs have won by just one run.

Travail Barnes made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out six batters over three innings while giving up just two earned runs off two hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing two bases while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.

In other batting news, Thomasville let Mkyel Duncan and Luis Bejarano Sosa run wild. Duncan scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3, while Bejarano Sosa scored a run and stole two bases while going 2-for-4. Thomasville is undefeated when Duncan posts two or more runs, but 2-9 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Matthew Bankhead, who scored a run while going 1-for-4.

The victory got Thomasville back to even at 9-9. As for Salisbury, their defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 5-14.

Looking ahead, Thomasville will venture away from home to challenge East Davidson at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams are coming into the match red-hot, with the Bulldogs sitting on three straight wins and the Golden Eagles on seven. As for Salisbury, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Atkins at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
