Basketball Recap: Baldwin Park Takes a Loss

Baldwin Park suffered their biggest loss since February 1, 2024 on Saturday. They had to suffer through a 91-37 loss at the hands of the Ambassador Lions. While losing is never fun, the Braves can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 1108th, while the Lions are ranked 481st).

Baldwin Park's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Rafael Godinez, who posted ten points. Another player making a difference was Joseph Rojas, who earned ten points.

Ambassador's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Daniel Desta, who put up 32 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Joshua Lee, who had 21 points.

This is the second loss in a row for Baldwin Park and nudges their season record down to 8-7. As for Ambassador, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 10-2 record this season.

Baldwin Park wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 45-34 loss against Nogales on the 7th. As for Ambassador, a feisty cat fight will be fought when the Ambassador Lions duke it out with the Animo City of Champions Wildcats at 2:30 p.m. on January 9th.
