Softball Recap: Ursuline Academy Wins Going Away Against O'bryant

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Cardinal Spellman, Ursuline Academy was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They blew past the O'Bryant Tigers 13-1. With that win, the Bears brought their scoring average up to 6.8 runs per game.

Emersyn Smart was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She struck out 12 batters over six innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit (and not a single walk). Smart was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two runs.

In other batting news, Maura Cunniffe was incredible, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. That home run was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Meghan Ganley, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with three runs and one stolen base.

Ursuline Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .561. The last time their OBP was this high was back in May of 2024.

Ursuline Academy now has a winning record of 5-4. As for O'Bryant, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-5.

Coming up, Ursuline Academy will face off against Fontbonne Academy at 3:45 p.m. on Monday. As for O'Bryant, they will challenge Cristo Rey at 3:45 p.m. on Monday.
