Baseball Recap: Make It Five in a Row for Victor Valley

While Victor Valley put up some runs on Friday, the same can't be said for Granite Hills. The Jackrabbits blew past the Cougars 10-0. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory the Jackrabbits have posted against the Cougars since April 17, 2023.

Victor Valley got a great performance from Tyler Aguilar as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out ten over six innings pitched. Aguilar is becoming a predictor of the Jackrabbits' success: when he allows at most three hits the team is 2-1 (and 5-11 when he doesn't).

On the hitting side, Matthew Yepez was a standout: he got on base in four of his five plate appearances with four RBI and one run. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. Emilio Sbolci was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

The win (which was Victor Valley's fifth in a row) raised their record to 7-12. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games. As for Granite Hills, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 12-8 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Victor Valley will square off against Adelanto at 3:15 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Granite Hills, they will take on Miller at 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday. The Rebels will roll in looking for their ninth straight win, something the Cougars surely won't give up without a fight.
