Baseball Recap: Grossmont Starts Season with Victory at Home

Grossmont took care of business in their home opener (and then some) on Monday. Everything went their way against the Vista Panthers as the Grossmont Foothillers made off with a 10-1 win. The Foothillers haven't had any issues with the Panthers recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive victory against them.

Jacob Holman tossed a big game, striking out seven batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in strikeouts.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Chris 'Jr.' Jacques, who went 3-for-4 with one home run and six RBI. Another player making a difference was Logan Struck, who scored two runs and stole Two bases. while going 3-for-3.

Grossmont always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .543. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Vista only posted an OBP of .300.

Looking ahead, Grossmont will challenge Mater Dei Catholic at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Vista, they will be taking part in a tournament against Otay Ranch at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
