On Wednesday, Downingtown West made easy work of Henderson and carried off a 16-3 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Whippets.
Downingtown West got a massive performance out of Karly Swanson, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Ryleah Avery, who scored four runs and stole Three bases. while going 1-for-1.
Downingtown West always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .590. The last time their OBP was this high was back in April of 2024.
Meanwhile, Boyertown waltzed into their matchup on Wednesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They put the hurt on the Panthers with a sharp 17-2 win. The contest marked the Bears' most dominant victory of the season so far.
Kyra Neiswender was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out six batters over three innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3.
In other batting news, Lindsay Mathias was a standout: she went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI. Mathias is crushing it when it comes to home runs: she's launched at least one every time she's taken the field this season. Rielynn Carey was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and one double.
Boyertown pushed their record up to 3-1 with the win, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Downingtown West, they now have a winning record of 2-1.
Downingtown West's speedy runners might be the difference in Friday's game. Downingtown West has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.3 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Boyertown, though, as they've been averaging only 1 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Downingtown West continue to outrun the ball?
