Football Recap: Mt. Zion Braves vs. Mater Dei Knights

Mt. Zion won the last time they faced Mater Dei and Keller Stocks did his part to make sure it happened again. The Mt. Zion Braves enjoyed a cozy 56-37 win over the Mater Dei Knights on Friday thanks in part to Stocks, who rushed for 166 yards and four touchdowns on only nine carries, and also threw for 316 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 13.7 yards per attempt. His longest rush was for an impressive 69 yards, which helps to explain his lofty yards per carry total.

Jacob Harvey also helped out as he racked up 135 receiving yards. He also hauled in two receiving touchdowns, which is notable because Mt. Zion is undefeated when he posts at least two receiving touchdowns, but 2-3 otherwise.

Mt. Zion will head out to square off against Carterville at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Carterville will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something Mt. Zion surely won't give up without a fight. Mater Dei does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
