Basketball Recap: Tuscola Comes Up Short

Tuscola was the 39-33 winner over Charleston when they last played one another back in December of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Warriors fell 48-42 to the Trojans on Monday.

Charleston got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Sadie Phillips out in front who almost dropped a triple-double with 17 points, ten rebounds, and nine steals. That makes it six consecutive games in which Phillips has scored at least a third of the Trojans' points. Makenzie Wanek-Clementi was another key player, almost dropping a double-double with ten points and nine boards.

Tuscola now has a losing record of 3-4. As for Charleston, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-7.

Looking ahead, Tuscola will challenge Rantoul at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Warriors will be up against the Eagles' rather soft defense (which has allowed 50.8 points per matchup), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Charleston, they will take on Taylorville at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
