Baseball Recap: Newport Comes Up Short

Newport lost to Dayton back in May of 2025 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Wildcats fell just short of the Greendevils by a score of 2-1.

Newport saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Sean Hurry, who went 1-for-3 with one run. Ethan Koster also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

Newport's record now sits at 0-11. As for Dayton, with the win, they broke their four-game losing streak and moved their record to 2-10-1.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Newport will face off against Robertson County at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The Black Devils have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 19.25 runs per game on average), something the Wildcats will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Dayton, they will challenge Villa Madonna at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Greendevils are facing the Vikings at the right time seeing as the Vikings are stuck on a three-game losing streak.
