Softball Recap: Goodpasture Christian Sets Scoring Season-High Against Mount Juliet Christian Academy

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Goodpasture Christian). Everything went their way against the Mount Juliet Christian Academy Saints on Tuesday as they made off with a 14-1 win. The Cougars not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since April 30, 2024.

Hope Brown and Katelyn Bryant made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Brown pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Bryant pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. At bat, Brown scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-1, while Bryant scored a run while going 2-for-4. That stolen base marked the first that Brown snagged this season.

In other batting news, Brooklyn Jones was incredible, scoring four runs and stealing two bases while going 3-for-3. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Laura Beth Blessing, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base.

The victory made it two in a row for Goodpasture Christian and bumps their season record up to 3-7. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 0-4 Mount Juliet Christian Academy and 2-5 Nashville Christian. As for Mount Juliet Christian Academy, their defeat was their 11th straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-4.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Goodpasture Christian will take on rival Friendship Christian at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Mount Juliet Christian Academy is set to square off against their familiar foe Nashville Christian at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
