Baseball Recap: Pine Crest Takes Down Killian in a Playoff Battle

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Pine Crest had no problem doing just that on Monday. They walked away with an 8-5 win over the Killian Cougars.

Brady Bushnell tossed a big game, pitching six innings while giving up three earned runs off five hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Micah Billig, who went 1-for-2 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March. Troy Ceritelli was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs, two RBI, and one double.

Pine Crest's victory bumped their record up to 15-6-2. As for Killian, their defeat was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 12-13.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: the Cougars beat Pine Crest by a score of 8-7 on Tuesday.
