Basketball Recap: Lucas Rogers' Big Game Can't Quite Lead Zeigler-Royalton over Galatia

After a string of three wins, Zeigler-Royalton's good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. They fell 66-53 to the Galatia Bearcats. If the Tornadoes were looking for revenge after losing 60-54 to them when the teams met, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Zeigler-Royalton's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Lucas Rogers, who went 8 of 16 on his way to 20 points and six boards. The match was Rogers' fourth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was River Freeman, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 11 rebounds.

Even though they lost, Zeigler-Royalton was working as a unit and finished the game with 18 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Galatia only racked up 12 assists.

It was another big night for Cam Miller, who went 7 for 14 en route to 16 points in addition to eight boards and five assists for Galatia. That's the most assists Miller has posted since back in November of 2024. Eli Hankins was another key player, dropping a double-double on 14 points and ten rebounds.

Zeigler-Royalton's loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 7-12. As for Galatia, the victory (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 14-6.

Zeigler-Royalton has already played their next game (against Vienna), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Galatia will face off against Gallatin County at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. One thing working in Galatia's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last ten contests.
