Basketball Game Preview: McQueen Lancers vs. Bishop Manogue Miners

McQueen hasn't had much luck against Bishop Manogue recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The McQueen Lancers will be playing at home against the Bishop Manogue Miners at 7:30 p.m. One thing working in McQueen's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last five matchups.

McQueen will head into Saturday's contest hoping to keep the good times rolling: they proved they can win big on Saturday (they won by 25) and on Saturday they proved they can win the close ones too. They had just enough and edged Galena out 66-64.

It was another big night for Abram Carpenter, who went 7 for 12 on his way to 20 points and eight rebounds. He has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last four times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Alex Hancock, who posted six points in addition to six rebounds and five assists.

Meanwhile, Bishop Manogue can finally bid farewell to their three-game losing streak thanks to their game on Thursday. They took down Wooster 54-37.

McQueen better focus on containing Jamahl Jackson and Eli Benna as the pair were huge in Bishop Manogue's win. Jackson had 12 points along with eight boards and four blocks, while Benna put up eight points in addition to six assists and five boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Liam Sorensen, who posted nine points.

Bishop Manogue's win bumped their record up to 6-7. As for McQueen, their victory bumped their record up to 9-4.

Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: McQueen has been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 35.8 boards per game. However, it's not like Bishop Manogue struggles in that department as they've been averaging 29.2 rebounds. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.

McQueen suffered a grim 76-50 defeat to Bishop Manogue in their previous meeting back in January of 2024. Can McQueen avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
