Basketball Recap: Lutheran Snaps Four-Game Streak of Losses at Home

After losing to Universal Academy the last time they met, Lutheran decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Lutheran Warriors enjoyed a cozy 53-38 victory over the Universal Academy Eagles on Tuesday. The Warriors pushed the score to 44-24 by the end of the third, a deficit the Eagles cut but never quite recovered from.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Lutheran to victory, but perhaps none more so than Nathan Yakobe, who went 6 for 13 en route to 13 points and six boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Luke Perez, who posted ten points and seven rebounds.

Lutheran smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in six consecutive matches.

Lutheran's win ended a four-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 2-10. As for Universal Academy, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-8.

Lutheran has already played their next contest (against Parkway Christian), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Universal Academy will square off against Frankel Jewish Academy of Metro Detroit at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
