Softball Recap: St. Mary's Comes Up Short

If St. Mary was feeling good fresh off their 9-1 takedown of Ben Holt College Prep Academy on Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Rams took a 6-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Monterey Trail Mustangs on Thursday. The game marked the Rams' lowest-scoring match so far this season.

St. Mary's saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Maya Garcia, who went 1-for-2 with one triple and one run. That triple marked the first that Garcia hit this season.

St. Mary's loss dropped their record down to 1-7. As for Monterey Trail, the victory snapped their losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 5-7 record.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. St. Mary's will face off against West at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Monterey Trail, they will take on Elk Grove at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The Thundering Herd will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something the Mustangs surely won't give up without a fight.
