Basketball Recap: Groesbeck Comes Up Short

Groesbeck lost against Mexia back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The contest between the Groesbeck Goats and the Mexia Black Cats didn't end well, with the Groesbeck Goats falling 69-54. While losing is never fun, the Goats can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1145th, while the Black Cats are ranked 364th).

Groesbeck's loss was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 8-14. As for Mexia, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 11 of their last 12 matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 22-10 record this season.

Looking ahead, Groesbeck is taking a road trip to take on Elkhart at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Mexia, they will face off against Central Heights at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. One thing working in Mexia's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last ten games.
