Keystone is 0-10 against Karns City since March of 2017 but things could change on Wednesday. Keystone will be defending their home field for the first time this season when they go up against Karns City at 4:00 p.m.
Keystone is coming home looking for redemption after taking a loss in their road opener. They fell just short of Moniteau by a score of 4-3 on Monday. Sadly, the defeat continues a streak the team started last season, making it five in a row.
Chaz Renninger put in work while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out seven batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off six hits. Renninger was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.
In other batting news, Aidan Tharan made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with three stolen bases. Drew Keth was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.
Even though they lost, Keystone always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .576. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Moniteau only posted an OBP of .250.
Meanwhile, Karns City put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They were the clear victors by a 17-2 margin over Westville.
Like Keystone, Karns City also got a great game from a two-way player: Jacob Jones. He struck out eight batters over four innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits (and not a single walk). Jones was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one double. Those three hits gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, Tyler Kelly was incredible, going 1-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Brock Dittman, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances.
