Softball Recap: Maypearl Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for Maypearl, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Tuesday. They came out on top against the Palmer Bulldogs by a score of 9-6 on Friday. The win was some much needed relief for the Panthers as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.

Alyssa Rogers spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned (and one unearned) runs on seven hits and racked up nine Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Bailey Short was incredible, firing off two home runs while going 2-for-3. That's the most home runs she has posted since back in March.

Maypearl now has a winning record of 12-11-2. As for Palmer, with the loss, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 10-13-1.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Maypearl is set to square off against their familiar foe Blooming Grove at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Palmer will challenge rival Scurry-Rosser at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
