Baseball Recap: Sunnyslope's Luck Changes for the Better on Friday

Sunnyslope hadn't done well against Brophy College Prep recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Vikings' pitcher stepped up to hand the Broncos a 2-0 shutout. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Vikings have posted since March 14th.

The result came thanks to Chase Simpson's shutout, as he gave up just three hits and racked up seven Ks. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Sunnyslope is 7-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 6-12 otherwise.

At the plate, Kaiko Wyrybkowski was excellent, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March.

The victory snapped Sunnyslope's losing streak at four games and leaves them with a 13-13 record. As for Brophy College Prep, their defeat dropped their record down to 18-7.

Sunnyslope does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Brophy College Prep, they didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 10-0 win against Notre Dame Prep on the 27th.
