Softball Recap: Pima Takes a Loss

Pima had lost three straight on the road, but on Wednesday they dropped their record down to 6-10 to make it four. They lost 13-2 to the Duncan Wildkats. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Wildkats this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 9-1 back in March.

Pima saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Tatum Brinkerhoff, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one double.

As for Duncan, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 11-5. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games.

On Duncan's side, Reymia Contreras made a splash no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. Contreras has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in six consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with three RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Sofia Harris, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, two RBI, and one double. Shaylynn Rhoton was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Pima has already played their next game, a 17-8 loss against Globe on the 25th. As for Duncan, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next match, a 26-5 win against Baboquivari on the 25th.
